A surprise award left a typically talkative Lawrence Township teacher speechless. Steve Hardwick, a fifth-grade teacher at Indian Creek Elementary, received the Indiana Distinguished Service Medal, the highest civilian honor awarded in the state. Maj. Gen. R.
